Teamwork

Drug Alcohol Testing, Onsite Drug And Alcohol ScreeningTeamwork is one of the best tools to use in developing cohesive, self managing, responsible work teams in your company. Students who learn how to and are good at working in teams or sharing information without regard for pride or individualism are far better academics than students who prefer to actively work alone. The same conditions apply in the workplace environment. Sometimes, employees encounter problems with trusting strangers and sometimes they encounter problems with working in teams. One of the primary reasons for not wishing to work in a team has been lack of trust in other people, specifically lack of trust that they will do their jobs or will do what they promised they would do. The other primary reason has been unwillingness to work in a team due to self consciousness, not willing to reveal any incompetency in their own work ethic, or due to suspicion that someone will “sabotage” their efforts to succeed. The second reason is primarily due to pride, in other words. Pride and lack of trust can really affect how someone approaches teamwork, but it can also be positively affected by being required to engage in teamwork. This is a case of the fear being greater than the actual circumstance which one fears.

When an employee is required to work in a team, they are consistently exposed to other team members and feel the effect of their already-established trust and boundary lines between each other. One of the best ways to learn something is not to study it in a book, but to interact with it in real life. Working in a team will, in itself, build better teamwork skills in your employees. Drug and alcohol testing will facilitate this by making sure that everyone is clean and upholding their own agreement with the policies of the company. Team members are better able to initially trust each other when they all are aware that everyone has been tested and is equally qualified to be there. This develops a bit of an “in-crowd” or clique mentality which better enables team members to trust each other even further.
