Unfortunately, they are often encouraged to take on more forceful roles in order to survive a competitive market. If they do this, they may become good at it, but their talents are not being utilized for the highest production power. Gentle dispositions which are, even successfully, acting outside of their familiar territory can become unbalanced and unnaturally harsh. This is where you need to nurture them and fit them into roles which satisfy both their work demand and their best gifts.

The first thing to remember is that gentle dispositions must be fairly regularly treated with gentility. The reason for this is so that they do not have an actual need to begin building defenses and barriers in order to protect themselves. Gentle dispositions are at their strongest when they are allowed to roam free and step over certain predefined boundaries without reproach. Often, gentle employees already have very carefully defined internal boundaries and they will quite easily hold themselves in check when necessary. It is in your best interest to allow them personal discretion and not to set up barriers or force them to put up barriers of any kind.

The second and perhaps the most important thing to remember about gentle employees is that they are often more successful in business negotiations. Gentility is quite talented in using soft, seemingly insignificant, but very repetitive persuasion techniques. Over time, gentle personalities achieve the most good, but they often know their craft enough to not need to use very much time in order to accomplish their tasks. Often, after a business negotiation has been settled, the client or prospect does not feel as alienated as they might feel after a forceful push to merge. Gentle dispositions often bring an air of class, decorum, and politeness to business meetings which more forceful personalities do not find in their best interest to use. This always leaves a positive lasting impression with everyone.
