Smokers can be anyone from cigar smokers to cigarette addicts, but whatever the case, the stuff is legal so there is not much you can do about it. However, many addicts simply switch addictions when they are looking to remove the problem they currently have. Drug addicts can turn into cigarette smokers, and cigarette smokers can turn into alcoholics. There is so much switching back and forth between addictions that it is a wonder than anyone gets any help for their problem at all.
This is true in any twelve step program. You walk into one of those rooms, and you encounter deep heavy cigarette and cigar smoke, along with lots of cups of coffee. In fact, there is so much coffee drunk and cigarettes smoked at any AA or NA meetings that it seems laughable that any one of them will live much longer than they would have if they had remained with their addiction.
