Unbroken solitude, however, wreaks less havoc upon the individual since it still acts as a strengthening agent and seems to be required by both extroverts and introverts.
So why do so many alcoholics and drug abusers have such a problem with social interaction, and are considered at their most dangerous if they continue in their solitude and lonely state? Well, this is mainly because social interaction cannot be predicted or controlled by many addicts and so therefore is considered by them to be undesirable.
