Cyclical Drug Testing

Workplace drug testing is cyclical, to say the least. After all, if you can see that your employees are affected by private celebrations, holidays, and Cyclical Drug Testingpersonal problems, then you can surely see that different times of the year coupled with different employee personalities produces a very rampant degree of cyclical action. The need for, and the usefulness of, workplace drug testing varies throughout the year.

For instance, right before the holidays when people are stressed out about family reunions or moping because they are once again alone during that time of year is a great example of how employee drug screening is more likely to come in handy this time of year.

However, there is another consideration. These cyclical times of the year may not just be good for implementing more alcohol and drug testing, but for also being more lenient if such offenses do occur. This means that humans are inherently likely to mess up and be more stressed than they can handle during certain times of the year. So, instead, it may be more prudent to implement drug and alcohol testing a couple of weeks after these high stress times in order to determine if your employees are still under the effects of their substance abuse, or if it was indeed just a temporary lapse.

Naturally, you’ll want to protect your employees during the times when they are still likely to commit these offenses, so it is still advised to use alcohol testing and drug screening. However, the frequency of testing may be determined by various factors which include but are not limited to time of the year, holiday schedule, personal trials or celebrations, inter-office romances, or simply a stressful boss. And yes, we may be talking about you. Just kidding.

Cyclical drug screening is very appropriate to large companies which have regularly expected employee problems and stress related difficulties which managers can see and easily identify. It is therefore necessary to see if you happen to be in this situation. It can significantly increase the effectiveness of your screening program.
